i also replied somewhat in-depthly to your linux vs windows vs mac topic on BAI -- be sure to check that out, as i spent the good part of 20 minutes typing that sucker out.
don't hesitate to ask me any unix questions. i generally hate giving people advice on linux, as they're usually annoying little shits who ask really annoying questions, but you have enough of a rudimentary grasp of computing (i'm being modest, i think you're quite knowledgable) i'm sure i won't get any "HOW DO I OPEN THE CD TRAY" and "OMG WTF IS A TERMINAL???" stuff. :p
